Fishing
In our novel Island of the Blue Dolphins, Karana spends a lot of her time hunting and gathering food. In the last chapter we read, Karana tries to catch a "giant devilfish" or octopus, but is gives her a lot of trouble. It almost drowns her dog and it leaves Karana with many cuts and bruises.
