We have already learned about equivalent fractions, fractions with different numbers for the numerators and denominators, but which are of equal value. For example, 2/4 and 1/2 mean the same amount. The equivalent fraction with the smallest possible numerator and denominator is called the simplest form. Finding the simplest form for a fraction is called reducing it.
